Sandy joined the Barber Financial team in September 2021. She changed careers after being a Pharmacy Technician and an LPN for over 24 years. Sandy works with the investment team completing and processing investment paperwork.
Sandy has been a volunteer since turning 15 years old. She currently responds with Pine Creek Twp Volunteer Fire Department in Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, where she currently holds the positions of Department Secretary, Chaplin, EMT/ Firefighter along with serving on multiple committees.
In 1985 /1986 she began her volunteer career working with the Redbank Volunteer Ambulance Service in New Bethlehem by becoming an EMT. Then acquiring her Mod 4 Firefighter in 2003, with Corsica VFC.
She met her husband, Chuck Young, on a very difficult call, while running an ambulance call in 1987. They have 2 children who are both in the fire service making them 5th generation firefighters. Sasha Young, of Brookville, member of PCVFD, and Anson Young of Corsica, member if PCVFD.
Sandy is also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and is a Past Matron, and served as Deputy Grand Matron, along with filling multiple chairs along the Labyrinth.
She is a founding board member of the Brookville Laurel Festival, serving as Pageant Coordinator, since inception in 2017.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, sewing and any shenanigans she can get into, but mostly playing with their goldendoodle...Gunner who rescued them as much as they did him.
